This concert was a big suprise to me. I have seen my fare share of concerts in Spain and I have seen what Spain has to offer in terms of rock n roll. Most of it, most of the time is shit. Carbon copies of British or American bands, plus the language issue it seems that 40 years of dictatorship has beaten, jailed and executed most of the spirit of rock n roll.
Things might be better in Barcelona and the North of Spain than Madrid,..who knows, this night however it took a Band from Alicante to reinstill my belief in the existence of Rock n Roll in Spain. Zombies & Diamonds, what does the name mean exactly , is it in reference to a post apocolypse fashion show?, maybe… or maybe a summarization of the world at black and white extremes?. The band put on a damn good rock show. The singer relentlessly throwing himself around the stage, making himself a target for foto espionage. The drummer was also a welcoming suprise as he seemed to play a la kieth moon with just a snare a kickdrum, hit hat and a cymbal or two. Clearly an expert in minimalistic beatkeeping warfare.
The guitar section both bass and guitar seemed to hold down the cross in with nail like percision and care, both adding to the band but never stepping over the boundries. The first and only guitar solo lasted almost the same length of the song and seemed to flow hostiley over it. The bassist kept the drummer in his cage.
This is a good band with interesting themes and a good live show.
